Abstract: Collecting and analyzing data that involves people creates a challenge; on the one hand, useful insights can be discovered from such analysis, but on the other hand, privacy harms can occur if such data collection or analysis reveals information that a person did not consent to have revealed, or in a context the person did not approve. De-identification--how to disassociate people's identity from data about them--is one of the key challenges in assuring privacy. Panelists will discuss Federal Government's needs in de-identification, existing activities and solutions, gaps, and priorities that should drive research in this area
