Birds of a Feather

The BOF session is intended as a discussion forum for conference attendees to exchange ideas on topics that may or may not be part of the regular conference program.  Appropriate topics include the social and legal aspects of computer security, as well as technical issues.  Proposals for discussion topics should be sent to Chenxi Wang.  No formal package is required, but a one paragraph summary of the topic and the name of the BOF moderator would be appreciated.

The BOF session will be over in time for participants to enjoy the ACSAC reception.  BOFs that sign up before the conference will be announced at the opening plenary on Wednesday morning.  We expect to have room for three or four BOFs, each in their own meeting room.

Works in Progress

The WIP session is intended as a forum to:

We welcome submissions that are relevant to the general topic of computer security. In particular, we invite students and engineers from industry to take this opportunity to exchange their ideas and solutions, as well as technical problems and practical experience, with the community.

The WIP session will run from 5:30 to 6:30, in time for participants to enjoy dinner and entertainment in New Orleans.

Participants in the WIP session should submit a brief write-up (maximum two pages) to describe the main idea. Each submitter will be allowed a five minute slot for presentation at the WIP session (5 minutes including 1 minute for questions). The write-ups will be made available on the ACSAC web site after the conference. A list of WIP presentations will be provided as part of the registration package.

Please submit your WIP write-up in either PDF or PS format, to Chenxi Wang no later than November 10th, 2001. If it is not possible for you to submit in either PDF or PS format, please contact Dr. Wang to make alternate arrangements.

The write-ups will not be refereed but will be screened by the organizing committee. We will accept as many WIP talks as are allowed by the available presentation time. Authors will be notified of their acceptance no later than November 20th, 2001.

Please contact Chenxi Wang (chenxi@ece.cmu.edu) or the ACSAC Program Chair (program_chair@acsac.org) for any questions on either WIP or BOF sessions.
